MakeSpace for Fall

Fall is in full swing and before you know it, snow will be coating the ground. I’m going to be completely honest, I have a Thanksgiving countdown and a holiday playlist ready to go. I do think Halloween went by in a flash, but I’m always excited for the holiday season.

I’ll be frank, I hate the cold weather. I can take it in small doses, but it’s definitely not my favorite. So, to combat against my dislike for the bitter cold and with the help of MakeSpace, I’m sharing my cold weather essentials with all of you. Maybe you already own these, or maybe you’re looking for inspiration.

Thanks to MakeSpace it’s super easy to send off your summer clothes to storage and receive all your winter clothes right at your door. Through their app you can tell them exactly what you want brought to you and they’ll do it. It’s like when you order takeout, but for clothing. You can check to see if there is a MakeSpace storage location near you.

Now that I’ve put all of my summer items in storage I can focus on the cold weather garments I’m coveting this season. I think you’ve all caught on to my patterns by now. My two favorite things are black on black and denim. Needless to say, I’m coveting more of that this fall/winter. I’m also a huge texture person, so I’m opting for a chunky sweater with ripped jeans and my new French Connection booties. I don’t think I’ve ever posted about this denim jacket before (because I have four, oops), but I love the fur detail on the collar. I could definitely wear a bandana or thin scarf around my neck everyday so I totally had to add that into the outfit as well.

Wedding Weekend

It has been ages!! I went to a wedding on Saturday and I have to tell you guys my “adventures” in dress shopping. Honestly there is nothing more annoying than shopping for a dress as a wedding guest. Well, to me anyway. I have such a picky sense of style when it comes to dresses that I get frustrated so easily. I found a maroon slip dress that I was all over when I thought about pairing it with something furry overtop and a black velvet choker. Well, that idea went out the window when I couldn’t find ANYTHING furry to put overtop of it. Then, I bought a dress from Nordstrom Rack and a jumpsuit from Zara online. I couldn’t zip the dress up (thanks boobs…) and the jumpsuit zipped up but it was too tight in the chest (once again, thanks boobs…) Let me preface that I did all of this shopping weeks before the wedding and Friday afternoon, the day before the wedding, I went out and found an entirely new dress. I contemplated shortening it, but when I brought it home and tried it on with my shoes and jewelry I knew I had to keep it long.

So, here is the final look that you might have seen on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr…anywhere really because I’m too in love with this dress.

Pins and Patches

If you were expecting a serious blog post today, this isn’t it (I definitely wasn’t focused today). I do however, want to shine a little spotlight on my denim jacket that I’ve been working on. If you know anything about me then you know that denim is my second skin. I have four denim jackets and counting. All of them are a different shade and all of them serve a different purpose. When I bought this one, I got more of a grungey (is that even a word) vibe and I decided that I wanted to fill it with pins and patches of my favorite things. This past summer that’s exactly what I did. Some of my favorites are the Pittsburgh Pirate pins I recently acquired and the patches on my arms. My left arm is an ode to the Winter Soldier and my right arm is an ode to 1940s Bucky Barnes. (SWOON WORTHY) Definitely expect more posts featuring this jacket as I add to it and show you guys my favorite ways to style it.

LBD and Army Green

I think we’re pretty much at the point in the season when it’s a bit chilly/super comfortable in the morning and then by the time I reach my apartment again at 1:00 I want to rip off all of my layers and jump into a pool. I hate it and I never know how to properly dress. Nine times out of ten I just throw on an LBD and call it a day. (You guys, I really hate pants). Also, I’m obsessed with army chic and I found this jacket at Target so I figured that if it got too hot out I could easily whip this jacket off and still feel put together.

MJ and Lingerie

It’s September and I’m sweating like I’ve never sweat before! Too much information? Whatever, I’m over it. Honestly, how I am dealing with this humidity when I live in an apartment that doesn’t have air conditioning is beyond me. Okay, my venting is over. Hiii everyone, third year is going well so far and that’s why I’ve been MIA. (Speaking of, have you heard her new song featuring Zayn? I’m obsessed and you can listen here.)

I’ve really been digging the whole lingerie camisole look. I’ve just about paired it with everything since I made the purchase. You can find it here. Needless to say there was no way I was putting my body in anything skin tight. (I hated the thought of putting on a bra this morning, but I suffered through.) So, I paired it with mom jeans, which is what I’ve been seeing a lot of lately. Guys, I really am trying to hide my melting makeup and humidity hair in the best way that I can. I’ve been going through tons of setting spray and argan oils.  Plus there are a few photos scattered in there that look like I’m being overdramatic about the heat. Also, one final thing, does anyone else get that awkward pouch right below their bellybutton when they wear mom jeans or is it just me? Please let me know because it makes me incredibly self conscious.img_0048img_0049img_0053img_0055img_0056img_0057img_0060img_0061

Back To School

A little late in the evening for a blog post, don’t you think? Well, it’s my first weekend back at college and I’m in my apartment alone watching Netflix. (That’s a whole other story) Oh no, don’t be misled. I love spending hours staring at the perfection that is Nate Archibald. Who wouldn’t? I’m a sucker for blue eyes, and those dimples…and I’m off topic now. There is one thing I can’t seem to get my mind off of though and it’s this insufferable heat/humidity. Sure, my desktop fan that’s perched on my side table definitely eases the pain a bit, but when your whole entire apartment lacks air conditioning and the fan is your only rescue, things get a little more unbearable than they need to be. For some reason I can’t bring myself to wear shorts the first few days of classes. Maybe it’s the air conditioning that is blasted higher than it needs to be during a 50 minute class, but I honestly don’t know how I survived the day in these skinny jeans. Let me preface one more thing, my hair was poker straight when I did it that morning…any tips on beating the heat?

Sexy Summer Lingerie

Unlike a vast majority of girls, I can’t just throw on a cute bandeau or bralette and carry on with my day.  I was always embarrassed (I still am) about the size of my chest. That was a huge factor in my quest to constantly cover up. I had this mentality that if I wanted to show a bit of cleavage or something I was being to provocative. For the longest time I thought it would be a faux pas if I were to “show off” my undergarments since they weren’t exactly “cute enough”. I had to choose support over fashion. No matter how many times I try, I always felt discouraged looking through the bralettes knowing I couldn’t, and still can’t, wear them. When I finally found a lace bra that was supportive and sexy I had no choice but to grab it. I’d say it definitely boosted my confidence and summer wardrobe tremendously.

I love being casual, but at the same time I want it to look like I put some effort into my appearance. Doesn’t everyone? So, for me, adding the lace bra under a muscle tank paired with my trusty Levi’s was the perfect way for me to feel effortless but look put together.

I never feel 100% myself without a signature scent. My Chanel No. 5 is the icing on the cake for my summer lingerie look.
